My brother Kyle Kurt and I started fishing before we can remember.  Our parents have photos of us holding up rainbow trout we caught, but we were too young to remember.  I have my Dad to thank for taking my brother and I fishing, and teaching us the fundamentals.  Our Dad "Capt. Geof" would take us out on his 2 man sit inside kayak. Some of my first memories of fishing came from San Diego Bay and fishing off the bait barge catching bonito, bass and barracuda.  Once we were a little bit older we would launch from La Jolla shores and go fish the northwest corner off La Jolla.  This was the first time I truly got to see the beauty and feel the power of the majestic Pacific.  My love and passion for fishing and the outdoors started at a very young age and has only grown with time.  I am extremely lucky to have fished from the Kisaralik River in western Alaska, south, to the tip of the Baja peninsula and many spots in between. Besides being with my family, there is no other place I'd rather be than on or in the water, wetting a linea...  As my friend, our shortstop at Chico State, Chad "Brut" Nelson would say, "pullin' some lip".

Having a chance to witness the world class long range sport fishing fleet out of San Diego Bay combined with my love for fishing has brought me to this point in time.  I thought to myself if all these top-notch, well respected, world class long range captains and deckhands stick and kill all those large money fish using Calcutta Dendrocalamus strictus bamboo gaffs, why haven't I seen more private fishing boats carrying the light weight - steel strong gaffs on-board?  Surely if the Calcutta stands the test of time with the professionals on the finest sport fishing boats in the world, it should definitely be the choice of weekend warriors and the hardcore recreational angler.  With the price of sashimi grade fish on the rise and the priceless memories of catching and sticking your own fish, the last thing any angler wants while trying to subdue an ocean beast is to lose that fish at the gaff.  In the summer of 2015, I set out to create The Ultimate Fishing Gaff.  Through hundreds of hours of thought, trial and error, scrutiny, dissection and field testing Grip N Rip Gaffs were officially born.  Grip N Rip Gaffs are made for the Professional angler and all anglers who are looking for superior feel and supreme confidence while sticking that jackpot fish.  Grip N Rip Gaffs are built to last decades.  Our top priority at Grip N Rip is our customers satisfaction and happiness.  With that comes our Grip N Rip promise to keep it 100!  If you are not 100% satisfied with our products, let us know and we will make things right.
